ACTIVISTS LOVE LETTERS
“Activist Love Letters” encourages the audience/viewer to think about their role in sustaining a movement and supporting their communities. Inspired by the powerful and often hidden letters that activists and organizers have sent to each other- words of support and encouragement, words of rage and fear, cautions and inspirations alike- this project has you considering your own activism and that of the people you hold dear.
If you could reach out to one person who moves you by what they do, who would it be? What would you say?
Activist(s)! Love! Letters!
This project was first performed at the Feminist Art Gallery in Toronto as part of Cinenova: An Audience of Enablers Cannot Fail (An initiative of the Feminist Art Gallery, The Power Plant and the Art Gallery of York University, in conjunction with their retrospective exhibition Will Munro: History, Glamour, Magic, running 11 January – 11 March, 2012.)
It has since been performed countless times across the country, including at the University of Lethbridge Art Gallery, the Art Gallery of Windsor , the Doris McCarthy Gallery , The Art Gallery of York University, and widely across Toronto.
